Leather Zippered Pouch | DIY

Recently, I've been toying around with some bags, wallets and other small accessories to launch in my Etsy shop. I've been carrying around this pouch, and another variation of it for a few months now and would love to show you how to make your own. If you aren't into making your own, keep an eye out on my Etsy..I'll be adding some of these soon!
Materials:  Thin leather, tapestry fabric, metal zipper, rotary cutter, right angle ruler
Steps: Cut a rectangle 8.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches tall. In the middle, draw a line 9.5 inches long - leaving an inch on each side. Draw a line parallel to it, a quarter inch below and connect with lines on the end to make a rectangle. Cut this shape out. Attach zipper by lining up under the rectangle you just cut and sew around the parameter. Cut off the excess zipper. Cut a rectangle shape from your tapestry fabric to the size and shape of your liking leaving a sewing allowance (I made sure mine was big enough to fit my phone). Sew your fabric to your leather, leaving the top open. Fold the leather rectangle in half and sew around edges. Now you have a fun new bag to carry all your necessities in!

I made one without a pocket and used a paint pen to add polka dots and I also made one that has a rectangle ring for easy carrying. These are pretty simple to make and are so useful! Have fun making your own :)

  3. Thank you. Very clear and easy construction for an attractive, versatile, and useful project. Equally good for a beginner or a seasoned sewer. Thanks again.
