Updated Always Rooney Studio Tour

The last time I shared a studio tour was over a year ago and a lot has changed! Looking at it now vs then, it is more "full" but I feel more inspired than ever when I walk in to this space.

Whether it's a spare bedroom, a closet, your dining room table or a warehouse, I believe your surroundings matter and can truly inspire better work. When I first started, I had a tiny bedroom with a workbench on one side and a twin bed on the other (see it here).  To be in this space I pinch myself sometimes!

With every new season, I've been having the best times making new mood boards above my sewing machine. Here is a peek at a previous mood board.
That sign is actually for my vendor booths but seeing it up there on the wall everyday just makes me so happy and inspired to get good work done.
I still love this cabinet I found in our old shed!

I have SO many scraps of leather. In 2019 I am focusing on repurposing old scraps and making sure waste is decreased.
I'm excited to use this gold foil press on all future products!

Thats the studio!

Simple Linen & Leather Christmas Stocking | DIY

I felt it was about time for new Christmas stockings and found some beautiful simple ones on Pinterest a while back that inspired these. They were surprisingly easy which is great if you have a large family! I love that you can customize them by adding pom-poms or a large initial hanging from one side or you can even embroider a name instead of using leather to personalize them.

Materials: 1 yd. linen (this makes two stockings), veg tan leather scraps, metal stamps, hammer, bonded tape, sewing machine.

How to: I followed this simple tutorial for the stocking shape with white linen I found at Joann fabrics. Both the inside and outside are the same white linen. I added a touch of leather stamped with names and attached them to the stocking with leather bonding tape.

They are shown here with my wood and iron ladder which is a simple Ikea hack!

Shopping Small This Holiday Season

I wanted to bring together a list of places you can shop small this holiday season. I can tell you first hand how having a small business not only changes families but communities. I'm grateful to be a part of the small business community and I love finding out about new small businesses. Thanks to everyone on instagram who chimed in and made this list what it is!

I'm splitting the shops into sections for easy browsing and even added a local Tulsa list because I'm partial to this cute city and the wonderful small businesses that make this city even better.

*most of these you can shop online too!

Let me know if I missed your favorite small business, I'll be updating the list throughout the next couple of months!
